Outer Spaces Microshow

Outer Spaces is Cara Satalino with guests Chester Endersby Gwazda and Rob Dowler. Cara moved to Athens, Georgia in 2008 after graduating from SUNY-Purchase, ready to make music. She recorded with a few bands and released records on Salinas Records and Bakery Outlet Records, and consistently toured in the United States and in Europe. Her band established Satalino as gifted vocalist, an exciting songwriter.

Outer Spaces joins us in the studio for a Microshow (June 5, 2014).

In the early months of 2012, Satalino started Outer Spaces to explore, as the name subtly implies, the components of song that were left aside by her other band’s meat-and-potatoes arrangements. The Creature of Nature EP is a perfect example of this, as it sees Satalino reimagining a handful of snarling and straightforward punk standouts as dynamic folk songs. But this isn’t to say that she has gone soft. The tenacity of her early recordings still rings clear. What’s more, this approach finds Satalino’s knife sharper than before.

Cara came to the studio last spring with multi-instrumentalist Chester and Rob on drums. She was reserved and set up her gear quietly yet precisely as she had in the 3,000 times prior to this show. But everything changed when she opened her voice and strummed a few guitar chords. One can hear the confident jangled punk background in her lyrics, yet her sense of indie pop is undeniable. Cara is quickly becoming a favorite here in the halls of Mobtown. Her music has shown up on many playlists this past summer.  Please sit back, crank up your stereo and enjoy one of our favorite microshows this year!

And be sure to pick a copy of “Garbage Beach” which was just released a few months ago on Salinas Records!
