This record is more than 3 years in the making. From Baltimore to Princeton, NJ and back and forth and over again. The band is fronted by saxophonist / composer Anna Meadors. She is joined by bassist / composer John Paul Carillo and drummer Chris Olsen. You’ll quickly notice there are no vocals. Somehow I have the privilege of working with many instrumental bands and I see it as a gift. As important as vocals can be in music, telling a story without words can be pretty difficult. But with Anna and John’s compositions it’s done effortlessly.
They are self proclaimed “jazz punks” and it shows in their music. They assimilate to the conformity of punk but at the time time draw outside the lines with the jazz influence while keeping with the bombast of their Led Zeppelin and King Crimson influences.
