Femi Moth

Femi and The Out of Water eXperience (OWX) is a Hip-Hop Alternative Rock band, with poet/lyricist Femi the Drifish acting as frontman and a band of misfits of a most unusual cast.

Femi Lawal better known onstage as Femi the Drifish is a writer, poet, licorice flavored lyricist, sometimes emcee and HipHop Alternative Rock band front man with the best smile in the business. The British born Nigerian, using Baltimore as his base of operation and is well traveled throughout the United States. Femi is one half of the dynamic spoken word duo, THE 5th L, the front man for the band called The Out of Water eXperience, as well as a touring solo artists in his own right. He has performed around the country, been on BET’s Lyric Cafe and shared stages with artists such as; Musiq Soulchild, Saul Williams, Fertile Ground, Ursula Rucker, Raheem DeVaughn and KRS One.

Mo Rece, clocks in on the keys as music director and producer while Shaun Riley keeps down the low notes on the bass. Drummer Chris Carroll gels the eXperience together as emcee/ percussionist Chuck the Madd Ox lays down the toughest beats ever to be boxed. Rounding out the crew is Nick Taylor, whose guitar riffs are mind melting. “Moth” features Kissi B Tru & Christen B on vocals. “Suicide Immortals” features Kristen Lagana.

While we’ve worked with Femi and his band before on previous releases, this was the first time getting his band in the studio to track new material. We recorded everything virtually live with only minimal overdubs here and there. Seriously, these musicians killed it. The musicianship is on point. These songs are powerful. These songs are different. They are a perfect mirror reflection that work inversely as an “A Side” and a “B Side” yet fit together like two puzzle pieces. These songs were meant to be heard loud. So turn it up, por favor.
